To our Valued and Loyal Friends and Customers
After 28 years operating one of Canada’s oldest independent Apple Resellers, we have decided to cease operation on May 15, 2012.
At the time of this difficult decision we reflect on a wonderful team we have had the experience of working with these past years. And our loyal customers, many of whom we can personally recall selling their first computer to. Some as early as the late 1980s. This has been a relationship business and we have had the privilege of meeting and getting to know each one of you.
Light Computer Centre started as a reseller of programable calculators and moved quickly into the personal computer age. As early pioneers we sold everything from the IBM PCjr to original COMPAQ computers, APPLE 1 and 2, the cute and tiny Apple IIc, and of course the Macintosh. Our team was recognized as one of the earliest adapters and premier dealers of the Apple Laserwriter which launched the Desktop Publishing revolution.
There have been many milestones through the years. In early years, owners of Light Computer Centre met with Steve Jobs and the senior management team at Apple with a proposal to be the exclusive distributor of Apple computers in Canada. Being one of the largest dealers in the country gave Light Computer Centre the credibility to get the senior management team at Apple to consider this seriously. After consideration Apple turned down the offer - but opened Apple Canada within months using the same business plan.
Through the years Light Computer Centre has been recognized for sales and service performance including recognition for signing the first $1,000,000 purchase deal ever had by Apple Canada.
But it is you, our faithful customers, employees and friends that made it all happen and all worthwhile. Times have changed and many would say the ‘fun’ is out of the computer industry. But it is the relationship with you all that has continued through the ages and that we will miss most.
Thank you for your support, your patronage, your friendship.
